About us > Letter from the President

April 7, 2010

With spring finally emerging after a long winter, now is an ideal time to reflect on the successes of 2009 and look forward to yet another great year of activities hosted by the French International Culinary Society.  Throughout 2010, we will continue to build on momentum gained last year – which saw new events, a focus on supporting FICS members and our revamped online presence.

This year, we intend to bring back and improve upon two signature FICS events introduced in 2009 – July’s “La Semaine du Gout” and our first annual “Le Marché de Noël” in December – as well as create others. Our planning is in line with the FICS board’s decision to help members who own and manage small businesses during the on-going economic slowdown.

The support of our loyal members is greatly appreciated and is the main reason behind the strength of the association. Our general assembly is scheduled for Monday, May 17. The assembly will be hosted at Petits Plats in celebration of this Washington, D.C. staple’s 10-year anniversary, and is to be followed by a celebration gourmet dinner.

As always, additional details on this upcoming event – as well as others – will be available on www.FICSevents.com as they are confirmed. As you probably have noticed, our website underwent a significant revamp last year thanks to the tremendous work of FICS Board Member Jeff Lenorovitz and his team at The InfoWEST Group.

The redesigned website – along with the launch of our blog and presence on Twitter and Facebook – provide important support tools for our members. These three elements help publicize members’ businesses by syndicating special announcements on-line, and being a positive information source that broadcasts what is happening in the French food community.

Participation is free to our members, and it works!  To take advantage of these features, add “info@FICSevents.com” to your e-mail marketing list, or simply forward any appropriate updates from your business.
Please do not hesitate to contact us, and we look forward to seeing you at our general assembly on May 17!

If you are not yet a member of the French International Culinary Society, see our Membership information page for details on joining.

Sincerely,

Yann Henrotte
