The French International Culinary Society is an exclusive membership association. The board of directors reviews all applications submitted. Their deliberations and votes are secret and strictly confidential.

The FICS has three categories of membership:
- General member: All persons interested in the practice of the French culinary arts, traditions and techniques.
- Professional member: All persons who can demonstrate their professionally-acquired knowledge of the French culinary arts through education and/or professional experience.
- Retired member: Active members who have paid their dues in full are exempt from further payment of the annual dues on their 65th birthday.
Fees and benefits
The FICS’ annual membership fee is $50. The annual dues are payable each January. The annual fee has not changed since 1972.
Active members are entitled to vote and participate to the society’s general assemblies. In addition, they are eligible to be candidates for a position on the board of directors. Other benefits are cash discounts at the association’s public events, invitations to participate at members-only events and the possibility to participate in the association scholarship program for education and professional development.
More importantly, active participation in the association is a great way to meet and stay in touch with individuals and professionals of the restaurant/hotel industry that share common interests and concerns.
